Nigeria's under 17 Golden Eaglets paid courtesy visit to Gov Tambuwal ,the team was led by the Secretary General Nigeria Foot ball Federation Dr Sanusi Mohd.
 
Governor Tambuwal congratulated them all for being part of the team that is going to play a qualifier match in Niger republic,he charged them to go dominate the play and win all the goals and qualify. 
 
 "Take the challenge and play as if it is going to be your last match that will make or mar your career." said Tambuwal. The Governor said he believed with the determination he saw on their faces victory is certain.,and it is his obligation as Nigerian to give the team the necessary support they required since they are going to represent Nigeria. Sokoto state government according to the Governor intends to encourage youth in the state to go in to sporting activities ,though the resources are scarce this days, he will get development partners to partner with them in developing state owned foot ball teams, particularly the younger ones in secondary schools up to university level.
" Foot ball provides empowerment and employment and it supports health and physical development of individual involved." Tambuwal added
He directed the state commissioner for youth and sports to support the team to Niger republic. The Secretary General NFF Dr Sanusi Mohd thanked the Governor for always being there for them and what his support to the NFF even before he became the Governor.
He said Sokoto was one of the makers of footballers in those days, and with Tambuwal as Governor he is optimistic that the lost glory is coming back, adding that two Sokoto indegines are presently in Reo they are Shehu Abdullahi and Usman Mohd.
