Hon. Oluwaseyi Olowu, a candidate for the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emerged winner of the party’s primary election for Shomolu Federal Constituency, Lagos State.
The returning officer, Michael Adeshina, declared Oluwaseyi as the winner at the end of the exercise held last Sunday at two venues, 30, Adaranijo Str, Kadupe Bus Stop, Opp Adaranijo Central Mosque, Pedro, Bariga, and Efon Alaiye hall,104 Apata Street, Somolu, Lagos State.
According to him, Owo Chicago, as Hon. Olowu is fondly called by his supporters, scored 33 votes to defeat his opponent, Aleshinloye Williams, who polled 1 vote from 36 accredited delegates.
With two invalid two votes, the returning officer said, “Oluwaseyi scored the highest number of votes cast, and hereby returned winner of the primary for Shomolu Federal Constituency.”
The winner urged his opponent and his supporters to join hands with him to ensure the success of the party in the 2023 general election saying no winner no vanquished.He also appreciated the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to carry everybody along.
"We thank God for today, I am happy but I believe the victory is for the party, the delegates, and everybody.
"I also believe that this is the beginning of the journey. We are still making moves to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC), and by God's grace we will be victorious.
"As you can see, I am relating very well with my opponent; he is my close friend. We will work together to ensure victory in the 2023 general election," he stated.
In a related development, Shittu Akorede and Adewumi Adebayo contesting for the Shomolu State Constituency I polled 8 votes each from 18 accredited delegates with two void votes.
"Another date will be fixed for them to contest again since both aspirants polled the same number of votes," the returning officer, Adeshina, said.
