Gadiel Oyedotun Obajimi popularly known as Candido Obajimi was born in Alagomeji-Yaba Lagos, Nigeria.
He started his education at Lady-Lak primary school and then proceeded to CMS grammar school, Bariga, Lagos.
Candido Obajimi loves music so much and no wonder he was a member of Sadu Boys & Girls Club at Akinwunmi street, yaba-Lagosplaying Trap Drum. He is the founder of the school band with Tony Benson, the son of late Bobby Benson back in the days in CMS grammar school and got more knowledge of music at the Army School of music, Abati-Barrack Idi-oro, Lagos.
He is a bundle of talent who plays different kinds of instruments with his powerful vocal delivery, exclusive drum performance and extraordinary stage craft are rare to find lately in this part of the world.
Gadiel Oyedotun Obajimi started playing professionally after his secondary school education with a musical group called Monomono led by Joni Hastrup and at the same time doing what he knows how to do best in the Nigeria Army Band.
Monomono recorded a classic album entitled- Give a Beggar a Chance. Candido Obajimi also produced another album titled Adura Power in Oakland CA. On record, he did about four albums with Tony Allen, the drummer of the Africa 70s band led by Fela Anikulapo Kuti. He also recorded another album with Babatunde Olatunji titled- Di Ominira.
He is a creative sound engineer who has worked in the best recording studios namely; Shanu Olu Recording Studio Ijebu Ode, Tabansi Recording Studio Onitsha and Ogo Oluwa popularly called Record Disc in Ifako Agege, Lagos.
Candido Obajimi, who is now a self-acclaimed king of Afro-beat, left the shores of Nigeria with Orlando Julius in 1986 and he attended Studar School of Sound Engineering in California, USA to study more about sound engineering of music, as part of his sojourn to the United States of America.
He has been uniquely different and much focused on his music career since he started out. He has worked passionately with other creative music talents like Tony Allen, Art Alade, Steve Rhodes, Manu Dibango (Sol Makosa), Jake Solo of group Osibisa, Akeem Karim, Mandators and Santana.
Recently, he just released a super single entitled Trust from the forthcoming album tagged Believe.
Gadiel Oyedotun Obajimi (Candido Obajimi) is the CEO of AMP Records (Asela Music Production). Believe it or not, he is the old wine in the new beat for the revolution of the Afro-beat music genre and the music world in Nigeria.
