The story Modupe Olatunbosun Silva-Ope can be likened to the popular saying that a golden egg has no hiding. From her little comfort to support the poor in the society, she has been able to catch a niche for her self as a selfless woman with heart of kindness.
It is
interesting that most of her efforts through her foundation has been at
low key without fanfare and unnecessary attention seeking.
Worried by
the plight of widows and poor women in the society, Modupe dedicated a
larger percentage of her support to these target group as a way to make a
statement.
For instance, during the covid pandemic, she was able to
feed over 200 women everyday for several days without making noise non
seek help fro the government.
This effort did not stop until her
target of feeding 5000 was reached and all was done through her personal
efforts and her immediate family support.
Like the proverbial saying
of teach a man how to fish, she recently launched an empowerment
project to train 200 women of different age grades on the business of
make-up and beauty. The free training will be completed with provision
of working tools that worth over two hundred thousand Naira to each
participant.
Her kindness was first shared by a man identified as
Ibukun Sunday who was involved in a fatal road accident that got one of
his legs amputated. He narrated how Modupe mobilised resources to get
him an artificial leg that has enhanced him to be more productive with
minor hindrance.
Speaking recently on his upcoming empowerment
project, Modupe explained how she relocated from Ireland to give back to
the vulnerable women she had witnessed their suffering in the past.
She
said her background in beauty and make up informed her decision to use
this path to put other women into self reliance and sustainability.
While
she is welcomed to other well meaning Nigerians to join hands with her
to target more people in the society, Modupe equally called on those
with means to always remember the needy around them.
