HIJAB CRISIS: FAILURE OF KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT TO ACT MADE THE ADEGBITE'S FAMILY IN ILORIN AND OTHER INDIGENES FLEW THE STATE FOR SAFETY -goBIGnews

Mr, & Mrs. Adegbite

Too bad, the Kwara State Government is complicit and failed to act on reports given to it concerning the planned attack on Christian Schools in the Ilorin area of the state, and this incident has made many indigenes and residents run away from Ilorin and abandoned their properties to save their lives.

The Christian schools brutality should have been nipped in the bud because the Ilorin State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria called on the government but there was no response.

The witnesses lamented that the “fundamentalists were able to hurt many Christians, some were macheted, clothes torn and badly beaten in the communities around Ilorin.

"The attackers, few of them were from Ilorin, most of them were mercenaries from Ijagbo, Offa and a number of them were imported from Osun State to do the dirty job. Even some Muslims in Ilorin confirmed that most of the faces at the Christian schools crisis zone were strange in the community. This is to let the public know how calculated and organized the uncalled-for attack, disclosed an eye witness.

One of the witnesses, a concerned free Muslim brother based in Ilorin narrated his own story and how the Hijab Crisis has affected him personally and his good friend named Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite and his family.

He said, Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite was born into a Muslim family at No. 55, Isale Ako Area Inisha, Osun State and he was married to his lovely wife, Toyin Iretiola Adegbite who is a Christian and they were blessed with three lovely children; Abdulrasheed Omogbolahan, who is 16 years old, Morenikeji Mariam who is 11 years old and Adams Marcelo who is 8 years old.

He expressed his acceptance of both the Muslim and Christian religions as he believes that they worship the same God. According to him, the only disparities lie in their doctrines and the distinct methods of worship.

Interestingly, Adegbite’s children attend the church with their mother and they also attend a Christian school in Ilorin, Kwara State. And to God be the glory he became born again around 2013 and he started attending the church services with the rest of his immediate family.

Problem started for Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite when his own family members in Ilorin who are staunch Muslims rebuked him for abandoning his own father’s faith and get converted to Christianity. It didn’t end there because he kept getting threats that he would be disowned by his family clan and he would lose all his inheritance if he doesn’t change back to be a Muslim and start worshiping with them at the mosque.

The big problem started in Ilorin when the community was informed that some Jihadists had mobilized and ready to destabilize the academic session of basically all the Christian schools in Ilorin, Kwara State respectively.

Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite, now a non-Muslim, finds himself increasingly worried about his family's safety. As he has chosen a different religious path, he realizes that he can no longer rely on the protection and support of his once-close Muslim family clan. This clan, well-known and respected in their community at No 17, Mubo Street, Ilorin, Kwara State, holds significant influence and power.

However, with his divergence from their shared faith, Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite now feels the need to seek alternative means of protection for himself and his family.

During the Hijab Crisis, the family of Adegbite went to church to worship in one of the weekly church services on June 10, 2022 and during the fellowship his wife’s brother called Tajudeen Adegbite that they should not bother to come back home that his house has been attacked and burnt his house by the Muslim fundamentalist in the community and this became their unplanned sojourn to go away from Ilorin and moved to other part of the country where they can feel saved from the extremists looking for him and his family members because he converted to be a Christian.

Ironically, departing from Ilorin, Kwara State seemed like a promising solution to evade potential dangers and ensure the safety of them. However, despite their efforts they continued to receive menacing calls, reminding them that hiding was merely a temporary shelter and that their pursuers were resolute in their pursuit of harm, regardless of the cost.

Facts revealed by the witness showed that these unending threats made him to take the bold step to run away from the country on June 10, 2022 to an unknown destination just to protect himself and his family.

The concerned Muslim witness said “We cannot continue to live together in peace if we cannot tolerate each other and he is missing his close friend, Olawale Tajudeen Adegbite who is on the run to stay alive.

The peace-loving citizens in Ilorin have called on the Kwara State Government to unravel and unveil the hoodlums and extremists causing public disturbance in the name of hijab enforcement.

Further findings revealed that "This is history repeating itself. It was in March/April 2021 that a similar Hijab crisis in March/June 2022, which is believed to have been sponsored by the people close to and in the government of Kwara State, ensued and resulted in the brutality of some church members and the students attending the Christian schools in the state.

The fundamentalists in the state are taking advantage of that the incumbent Governor is a Muslim too and no wonder they are taking laws into their hands through religious colouration to get back at whoever is not a Muslim in Kwara State.
